The Aamir family is settling well into life in Canada. Our Refugee Committee is working with the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS) to ensure that the family obtains required documents in support of their permanent residence. Our parish's commitment is to finally support the family for one year.
The three boys are in Catholic schools in south Calgary. Committee members are working to ensure that Aamir Younas improves his English language skills to obtain a job in the next few months. He was a phlebotomist (technician who draws blood) & medical supervisor in Pakistan; then a gas station supervisor in Malaysia handling day-to-day operations & accounting. As of early February, Aamir Younas is a volunteer at Rockyview hospital.
St. Bonaventure parish is sponsoring the Aamir family's settling in Canada. Our Refugee Program is in need of donations to meet its 1 year commitment to financially support this family.
Costs have risen significantly since the parish last provided financial sponsorship for a refugee family over 3 years ago.
We provide rent & monthly payments to the family to help them with their grocery, telephone & other bills. This family's expenses are greater than for families sponsored in the past due to their 3 children being older, with higher costs for food & clothes.
Please consider donating to the parish refugee fund.
Donations can be made using the green envelopes & marking it for the Refugee Fund, or online.
All donations accepted with many thanks!
